The International Conference on Maritime, Humanitarian and Agro-Food Supply Chain and Logistics: Disruption, Implications and Opportunities is part of activities organized under the Global Supply Chain Management for Southern Mediterranean (GLOB-SM) project.
The conference was held in Beirut, Lebanon, on August, 31st, 2022, at AUB’s Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, at the Michel & Sherine Bayoud Lecture Hall, in a hybrid format. This provided speakers and panelists with options to either attend in person, or from the comfort of their home country, with the same experience of networking.
The conference introduced the GLOB-SM project, and provided visibility of its significance and context in Lebanon, Jordan and the region. Then, three panel discussions were held on disruptions, implications and opportunities in the following three tracks: maritime logistics and supply chain management, humanitarian logistics and supply chain management, & agro-food logistics and supply chain management. Recommendations culminating from the conference emphasized the need for capacity building in the region, in the three sectors (maritime, humanitarian and agro-food supply chains and logistics), and that the GLOB-SM program sets the scene for collaborations with the private and public sectors in these three domains (CONFERENCE AGENDA).
